Traffic Is NOT Everything - You Need To Have Effective Sales Funnel In Place Now

Traffic is everything... if you have heard this before, you are not alone. Added web traffic make sales for you if your offers convert, but without compelling sales offers, they mean a very little.

In the summer of 2011, a power transformer nearby my Arizona house caught fire. As a result, over 150,000 people were without power for 9 hours. I went to a local mall in search of AC, and wow, it was like Christmas week! Thanks to the generator, the businesses at the food court had one major sale day with so many local customers flocking to the mall (hope they didn't run out of food to sell).

It seemed it was a money-making time. It was for the food court, but other mall businesses could care less about the traffic. Even with so many people in the mall, as far as I could see, people were not making their way into the stores inside the mall. It was just a "crowded mall" and "business as usual". People were not there to shop, but to only "cool off" until they regained the power back once again.

Traffic Is Not Everything

Ironically, this "surprise" traffic did not convert into business for the non-restaurant folks in the mall. In fact, the sad look I saw in the faces of sales clerks reminded me that unless the people had compelling reasons to buy, the crowded marketplace was useless for these businesses.

When it comes to internet marketing, when someone says "Traffic is everything", it's usually uttered by folks who do not know how to drive effective traffic. So it's a mystery for them - if they could just solve this "traffic problem", all their problems get solved.

What Do You Need to Have In Place of Traffic

The good news is if your website offered valuable content it should attract visitors overtime from organic search results. However, the real breakthrough comes when you figure out how to convert backend offers into sales. So, the questions you should be asking yourself at this point are -- do you have a follow-up system in place? How do you build relationship with your clients and non-clients? Once you get people to take your free or low ticket item, how do you up-sell, down-sell, or cross-sell?

You should first have a free or low-cost sample piece that allows your prospects to experience your products and services with very low risk. What you need here is to delight your prospects - we will call this your frontend offer. This frontend offer provides more value to your prospects than the cost, but if you have a good backend system in place, you should be able to recover the cost.

Next, what you need to know is out of all the people who took on the front-end offer, how many people bought your up-sell? And if they bought the up-sell, how many people then bought the 2nd up-sell? If they say no the up-sell, would they buy a down-sell? If they say no, would they be interested in a separate offer such as an affiliate promotion? Would they respond to your affiliate promotion if you offered one of your products as bonus?

With advanced shopping cart available today at affordable cost, this backend promotion can be completely hands-free. This is one reason if you have not, you should take your business online!

The Key Is To Build Backend System Then Add Traffic

Of course, traffic is important. But as you could see, it isn't everything. The real key here is to build a profitable backend system so that you know every time you generate traffic, you can predict certain return of investment. In fact, you can even generate paid promotions if you know exactly how your offers convert. It's zero-risk to you at this point.
