You can write articles of between 400-800 words and submit them to article directories. The directories allow you to leave a link back to your website at the end of your article. Two of the most popular places to post your articles are EzineArticles.com and GoArticles.com but there are many other directories you can use. Another great benefit from using these sites as that if someone likes your article they can post it on their own website as long as they include the link to your site. This results in more people reading your article and increases the chances of people visiting your website.

2. Join forums and other online communities

Whatever product or service you have to offer, there is almost certainly going to be a forum about it. If there isn't you could think about starting one. If you join these forums you can start by using your expertise to give other forum members advice on your chosen subject. This will help to build trust and credibility. They will then be far more likely to consider buying from you and also recommending you to others.

3. Using Google AdWords

Although using Google AdWords does cost money it is a very popular and highly successful way of getting more potential buyers to come to your website. This is why so many companies, whether they are large or small, use this method of generating visitors (also known as driving traffic).

4. Viral Marketing

There are many different methods of viral marketing. One method that you can use and will cost you nothing to do so is finding websites that have articles that invite people to leave a comment at the end of the article. You can leave your comment and also include a link to your website. Obviously you need to make sure the article in question is related to the product or service you have to offer.

5. Make sure to use powerful keywords and keyword phrases in your websites content

Choosing the right keyword and keyword phrase is important because the search engines are looking for certain keywords. If you use these keywords it will help your website to appear higher in the search engine rankings. If you do not want to write the content yourself you could consider hiring someone to do it for you.

6. Trading or Exchanging Links with Other Sites

By exchanging links with another site both of you will benefit. If one site features another sites link, they could provide each other with the traffic that both they and the other site generates. The more sites that you can find to trade links with will increase the chances of more people wanting to visit your site.

7. Offer Free Newsletters

Use your knowledge and expertise to offering free newsletters on a regular basis such as weekly or monthly. This will help you to build a list of loyal followers who will be happy to recommend you to their friends, family or colleagues.
