Using Instant Commissions To Drive Traffic and Sales To Your Website

One of the absolute best methods to drive traffic to your website is through the use of an affiliate program. All you need to do is set up an affiliate program, provide them the tools and let them go to work, right? Not always. Take advantage of one aspect of affiliate programs that affiliates love, the instant commission, and watch your website traffic soar.

What are instant commissions?

They are exactly what you might think, instant. More importantly, they are paid instantly to the affiliate who is doing all the work to promote and acquire traffic to your offers. This means that for every sale the affiliate generates they are paid that day. This sure beats the normal waiting period of 30 days or even more for some affiliate programs.

What if there are refunds?

People worry about refunds on instantly paid commissions for some reason more than they do for a 30 day payout. As if somehow paying "those who work for you" is at fault for the refund. People will refund products all the time. Some people are actually habitual return-ers. They buy and return stuff no matter who sold it to them or when the affiliate gets paid. Even if the affiliate does get a refund, simply apply the balance forward to their next sale. Your affiliate program hopefully has a way to track both sales in refunds to account for them both.

Why do affiliates try harder with instant commissions?

Ever heard the saying "a bird in the hand"? Well, money in your affiliates pocket is an incentive. Who likes to wait 30 days to enjoy the spoils of hard work. Affiliates with instant commissions will often drive that much more traffic to your website simply because they could use extra cash this weekend. Perhaps they have a party, or some vacation coming up, who knows.

But my payment processor doesn't do payments that way.

Find a different payment processor for your affiliate program. Or learn more about the one you have. There are plenty of methods for paying affiliates right away. Even PayPal has the ability to do split payments or a round-robin where the affiliates might get every other payment on a 50/50 split for instance. There is no rule that says an affiliate payment center has to come through your actual office. I know it is nice to "handle" the money, but if your affiliate program is set up properly with a respected company you should have them do the work. In either case, offer your affiliates instant commissions and watch them get reinvigorated to drive even more traffic to your websites.

Increasing Web Traffic - Offer Your Affiliates These Tools For Increased Website Traffic

Once your site is up and you have begun the process of increasing web traffic to your offers, you might notice it is both hard work and time-consuming. Because of this, one of the most desired traffic methods is the use of affiliates. If you're not leveraging their efforts to drive traffic to your websites then you had better get started. Here are five things you can offer to increase your chance of getting affiliates to your site.

Free Affiliate Program

You would think this would go without saying, however there are still companies who want you to pay them for the privilege of marketing for them. It happens. There are tons of other affiliate programs out there for people to choose from. If yours is not free to join then you risk having a lot less people join it. Avoid this barrier to entry and you could be letting in the best affiliate traffic you have ever had.

Instant Commissions

Offer to pay people immediately. Nothing beats getting paid right away for work done. Affiliates love to be paid sooner than later, we all do. However these people are the ones doing all the promoting. The right affiliates can easily drive massive amounts of traffic to your site if they know they are not waiting 30 days for the rewards. Instant gratification at it's best.

Tier 2 Commissions

If you are selling more than one product, or offering products that have recurring payments, then offer a portion of these to the affiliates as well. This appeals to even more affiliates as these sales now become a hands-free recurring income stream. The better your commission structure is the better your affiliate force will be at bringing traffic to your site.

Free JV Offer

Just because an affiliate is your affiliate, does not mean that they are not also business owners themselves. Consider offer to do a joint venture with your largest affiliates. Give them an even higher split of commissions, or offer to promote their product or even give them a branded version for their own clients. This gives them even greater incentive to keep driving traffic your way.

Free Swipe Files

Most importantly, give your affiliates all the tools they need to promote your product. This could include all the imagery, graphics, videos, promotional emails, and anything else that could help them make a sale or drive traffic to your offer. These are simple enough to create and should be one of the first thing you offer to people.

Blogging And Forum Traffic - Driving Traffic To Your Website One Posted A Time

Unless you're completely new to the Internet and you're reading this article on day one, then there's a good chance you already know what blogs and forums are. What many people are not aware of, is that both blogs and forums can be a considerable force for driving traffic to your website. More than anything, blogs and forums are about community. It is this community that will bring traffic to your website based on the frequency, and especially the quality of your posts.

Just in case you are new, blogs and forums.

In essence a blog or forum simply allows someone to post content, questions, or topics of discussion on somebody else's website. This means that you can post to these websites based on any restrictions website owners have placed upon that website. Blogs are usually articles or helpful posts as related to the topic of the block. Forums are usually more diverse and as they cover a larger range of topics geared to a larger community.

Why should you be using blogs and forums for traffic for your website?

One of the main reasons to create a blog or forums is to provide information to readers. Sometimes these can be specific to a website you own. However for this article we are not talking about owning blogs or forums as much as posting on sites owned by other people.

Posting on blogs often allows you the ability to include a link to your website. This will depend on the owner of the site and the quality of your post. If you are posting relevant and related content that the blog owner will approve of, then the owner may let you keep the link in the post. If not, the site owner can either delete your post or even ban your account to prevent you from posting at all.

Forums are much the same principle as blogs. Posts can be moderated, removed, and accounts can be banned for making posts that are unwelcome. Forums may have a much larger and more responsive community reaction when posting things that go against the community, such as short spam comments, flame posts, or completely unrelated topics.

What is the best way to get website traffic from blogs and forums?

The best way to get traffic from these types of sites is to join the community, and be an active part of that community. The best option is to not advertise directly in your posts. Most users of blogs and forums do not like to be actively advertise to in the content they are trying to read. Blogs normally link your username to a given website, or to your profile where you can post your link for people to find. Forums also have a profile, but most will allow the use of a signature file at the end of each and every post that you make. This signature file can include links to your websites that you want people to visit. If you are an active member of the community, then you will see an increase of traffic to your websites simply by posting quality useful content and helping other people with their problems.

Directory Submission Traffic - Is This Still A Viable Option For Getting Website Traffic?

Once your website is created, one of the first traffic methods you are likely to encounter could be one of the least effective traffic methods still available today. Or, it could actually be a great method if you know how to use it and what you're getting yourself into. This traffic method is none other than directory submissions. Quite a common traffic method at the beginning of the Internet, this method is still being used, but is it still a viable option for getting website traffic?

What are directory submissions?

If you've ever picked up a phone book, understanding the principle behind it directory should be pretty straightforward. He directory is simply a listing of whatever topics are within the listing. The phone book is a directory of telephone numbers, a website directory is a listing of websites. In most cases directory listings are submitted to directories and verified by the directory owners for validity, accuracy and quality.

Not all directories are created equal.

A website owner has the option to submit their website for inclusion in the directory. Some directory inclusions are free while others must be paid for in order to be included in the directory. Neither option guarantees the quality of the directory or the listings within it. That is solely up to the owner of the directory. Better directories will still have a much higher quality control for any links that are included within it. Whereas smaller directories may or may not have the means to maintain them properly.

Do directories really get traffic to my website?

Directory submission traffic really depends upon the directory that you have your website listed. To go back to the phone book analogy, the better the listings in the phone book and the more people using it the more likely you get seen. Directories such as DMOZ, which is the largest website directory on the Internet do receive tons of traffic from visitors looking for new website listings. The drawback to sites like this is a could take months to actually have a listing entered into that directory. If however you can get your site listed into it than it is worth it. With most directories you will either have to spend the time or the money to get them listed, however you will have to make your own determination based on the website traffic you receive if it was worth it for your business.

Pay Per Click Services - Extremely Fast Traffic To Your Website But At A Potentially High Price

Your website is up and running and now you need to bring traffic to it. As with anything else, there are hundreds of methods of traffic generation to choose from to get started. Depending on the funds you have available to allocate to traffic building, you might want to consider pay-per-click. This can be one of the fastest traffic generating methods available online, however you must be careful as the cost be one of the most expensive.

What is pay-per-click traffic?

Pay-per-click or PPC is a the advertising method in which you pay advertisers on a "per-click" basis according to the number of clicks they can generate for your website. The concept is actually quite straight-forward. First you must sign up and become a members for Google AdWords or any another PPC service provider.

Once you are a member you can submit the URL to them that you wish to advertise. The PPC system will also have their own database of website owners on the Internet that are interested in promoting URL ads through the vendor. These websites work much like affiliates. They, or the advertisers system in some cases, will place your URL on their sites in predetermined advertising blocks. Whenever any person clicks on them, you pay the advertiser (In this case Google, and Google pays the website owner, think AdSense).

Why should you consider using PPC campaigns for website traffic?

If you haven't considered using a PPC campaign yet, you might be missing out on one of the best and fastest traffic generation method on the Internet. PPC campaigns are extremely key word targeted and can generate traffic extremely quickly for the given key words. In many cases you can watch your traffic skyrocket almost instantly.

Why you should be careful using PPC campaigns for website traffic.

Pay-per-click campaigns can be overwhelming for the beginner. If you're not sure about how to do your proper keyword research that you are going to miss out on a lot of keywords for a given campaign. Some marketers will have hundreds of keywords for a single pay-per-click campaign. This includes keywords for broad matches, exact matches and phrase matches. Most beginners will only target a handful of keywords, usually under 10. Most beginners, or anyone without a large budget, does not usually look at spending a price per keyword and having to do hundreds of keywords at a time. This can become quite expensive really fast if the keywords have a lot of traffic. This also does not account for conversion rates so any traffic you get if it does not convert is money lost.

How to Drive Traffic to Your Website Fast

By Keith Eller

So you have a website and now you need to generate customers. What is the fastest way to drive traffic to your website for the best results? There are MANY ways to do that but the easiest and fastest way is to publish articles -- either through a blog or an article such as the one you are reading here.

First, understand that it is a numbers game. Simply put, whether you are an affiliate marketer with many quality items to offer fo different tastes, or offering a single product to a niche band of users, the more traffic you generate, the more sales you will make, period.

Two things are needed for article writing: keywords and writing skills. Keywords can be a complicated area but the short explanation is that keywords are what brought you to this page. If you punched in the search term "how to drive traffic to your website" into Google, you were brought almost directly to this page. "How to drive traffic to your website" is the keyword phrase. What you need to drive traffic to YOUR site is a program that will tell you HOW MUCH web traffic uses WHAT specific keywords, phrases, or search terms to locate YOUR specific product(s). Once you find which words or phrases generate the most activity, you can use those magic keywords to compose articles. That way, when someone searches for the keywords you've chosen to write about, they will read the article and ideally, be given a link to your site, where hopefully, they will like what they find. Many different keyword programs are offered through the internet and would give you the information you need.

If you do not consider yourself a writer, not to worry. You can outsource the articles. Many sites on the internet will offer a writing service. I would be sure that all articles are submitted to you before publication to make sure the articles are accurate and well written. In a short time, you should be well satisfied that the writers you use are competently composing articles the way YOU want them done.

If you have your own site that serves more of a niche marketplace, newsletters are an excellent additional way to drive traffic. Again, using keywords in your newsletter would be a powerful way to attract new visitors. Perhaps you would have one free newsletter with more general information and one for subscribers with more detail. A keyword program would help you find the more popular search terms so that YOUR writing would be listed first on the pages of Google.

Finally, don't labor under the misconception that if you have capital, you should not use article writing to generate traffic when there are so many other ways available. Don't forget; you are trying to leverage both time and money here and this is a VERY inexpensive way to drive massive amounts of web traffic your way. if you have the capital, outsource the article writing if you like, and move on to other areas of traffic generation. and market penetration.

How To Get More Website Traffic: The Absolutely Best Way To Flood Your Website With Targeted Traffic

The question "how to get more website traffic?" has troubled webmasters since the early years of the internet. With so much business done online these days, the answer has become more and more coveted.

Increasing your website traffic can lead to increased sales, more people requesting your services and it can lead to an increase in revenue from advertising and affiliate schemes.

In many ways the answer is simple, many people have discovered when learning how to get more website traffic that the key is content. Good, well written content that engages the reader and makes them want to learn more about your company is guaranteed to be viewed. The content also has to be highly relevant to your website, it's no good for a blog post that discusses car parts to be backlinked to a website that rents vehicles.

To get relevant content, you will need to imagine what the person who might end up reading it is looking for. The keywords are important as this is what the person looking for those services will find through an internet search. Keywords have to be inserted into the content in a way that feels natural and keeps the content readable. You will also need to research the keywords, if there is a high competition for those keyword then you may have a hard time drawing in traffic from those searches. Keywords might also be location specific.

The content could be entered as a blog post or a submission to another website that backlinks to your main site. To ensure the content is readable you should consider employing the services of a writer. There are a lot of writers out there who work on SEO-type articles, but whilst they might be very intelligent, not all of them are native English speakers. Non-native English speakers may struggle to present the article in a way that appears natural, an article that crams in keywords and appears unnatural will quickly turn off the reader.

You can always write the content yourself if you are good at writing, this is probably the best way to go as you will have a better idea of what you are looking for. It would be worthwhile though asking friends and family to read a few of your submissions as it's always a good idea to get a second opinion.

As well as content, people who have learned the secret of how to get more website traffic have studied the dark arts of SEO, or search engine optimization as it's otherwise known. Backlinking is the key to success here, as well as researching those keywords thoroughly and being inventive in the way you insert them. The idea behind making blog posts, RSS feeds, social networking submissions and forums posts and backlinking them is a lot like the idea of using a fishing boat instead of a fishing rod. One rod may not catch much, but a trawler with a large net will. The greater area over which you spread your net, the more likely you are to catch fish.

This concludes my article on how to get more website traffic, I hope you have learned some tips you can take away and apply to your own websites.

Does Your Website Need More Traffic? Here's 5 Essential Techniques

"How can I increase traffic to my website?" is probably one of the most frequently asked questions in the field of website marketing.

The obvious reason for this is due to the fact that website traffic is essential if you want to make money online. To define what is meant by website traffic, it is not only the number of visitors that go to your site, but also the total amount of data that is transferred through your website. If you are planning to market your business via the internet, then you need to send as much traffic as possible to your website.

A website without traffic is akin to a store without shoppers, hence attracting customers to your web business is absolutely crucial to your online success. It is quite pointless having a fantastic website for your products or affiliate business if no one knows it exists or, to put it quite frankly, no shoppers equals no sales!

Most people believe free website traffic is the best and most desirable source to a web marketer, solely due to the fact that it is exactly that, free. This idea may sound great, but is somewhat misguided. In fact, it is significantly more important to focus on the quality rather than just the quantity of traffic, as this is what will be instrumental to the success of your site.

It goes without saying that any website traffic is good, however, unique targeted website traffic is far better. Targeted website traffic is the dream of every online business, whether a multinational conglomerate, or an independent work from home Mom. Free targeted traffic is even more desirable than targeted traffic.

Why, you may ask, targeted traffic in particular? This is because it is key to a successful online business, this kind of traffic will have a much higher conversion rate i.e. converting visitors into buyers, compared to random non-targeted traffic. It's basically giving an interested party what they want rather than attempting to sell something to a bunch of tire kickers with no intention of buying.

Enough significance cannot be put on this type of traffic as it is crucial for any website hoping to create revenue. As I wrote earlier, it's not simply the quantity of traffic that you generate, but more so the quality of the traffic. The higher the quality, the higher your conversion rates and the greater your income.

So how do you increase traffic to your website? Here are a few very good tried and tested methods:-

Good keyword research may be long, tedious and sometimes boring but it is essential. Don't forget to include these targeted keywords throughout the content of your website, this alone will attract traffic.
Another vital way to improve the quality of traffic is through S.E.O (search engine optimization.) S.E.O techniques significantly improve website traffic by helping your site rank higher on large search engines such as Google, Bing and Yahoo
Join online forums on the subject of your website and get involved, make comments, offer help etc, etc. Make sure you fill out your profile and signature details that will include your website URL, this will naturally help promote your website, and generate targeted traffic.
Another very similar and very useful marketing tool for generating targeted website traffic is to frequently update your blog, if you haven't got a blog, get one! Also comment on other blogs within the same business as your business, again leaving your website URL in your signature.
Last, but certainly not least, is email marketing. This has to be one of the best methods to generate targeted web traffic, the twist in the tail with this technique is you need a list of subscribers to your site. So you will need to build a list first.

All five of these techniques will drive targeted website traffic to your website, admittedly these are not the only methods and there is not enough space in this one article for me to go into great detail, but you can download my free e-books on,Viral Traffic, S.E.O Tactics blogging for cash, affiliate income, Web 2.0 and more at, http://www.rodforte.com As I said earlier any traffic to your website is good, but targeted website traffic is what will put money in your pocket.

Things to Avoid When Generating Website Traffic

Any website owner or affiliate marketer wants to have a website that has a great volume of traffic on a regular basis. This means a great deal for his or her internet marketing business especially since this signifies that there are a lot of people that are interested to what he or she has to offer. There are a lot of methods to increase the amount of visitors in your affiliate or internet business website, but sadly, not all of them work the same way. Some are better than others. And you must find out which one actually works and which ones that don't really work at all.

Some strategies help you get the results you want and help you reach your target income in no time. But there are strategies that are only doomed to failure. It is important that you keep in mind the mistakes that most marketers make in their internet marketing website. That way, you will be able to avoid committing the same mistakes and hopefully dodge the bullet that might kill your internet business.

One of the biggest mistakes that most marketers make is that they concentrate more on the aesthetics of website making rather than the technical side of it. There's more than aesthetic when it comes to creating a website. You also have to pay close attention to the content as well as the keywords that you use on your site. Relevance to your products is often a common complaint of most people who visit some affiliate sites because they often provide poor content that don't help the customers at all.

As an affiliate marketer you should also incorporate several methods of gaining traffic rather than relying on just one method to stand alone. It is a common mistake by most beginners in the business of internet marketing and something that you should definitely keep in mind. You must realize that there are a lot of ways to increase the volume of your site visitors and this does not mean you only have to choose one of them. Some paid methods help you in more ways than you can imagine and help relieve you of the responsibility so you can focus on other things like product innovation and other marketing strategies.

Another common mistake of an affiliate marketer is that they don't give enough emphasis on niche marketing. In order to have quality leads for your internet marketing business, you must also find ways on how to reach out to your targeted niche and how to get them to view your website. You may have a great deal of volume in your site but if none of the traffic you generated are interested on your products, that will definitely not be good for your business.

How to Get Traffic to Your Website And Convert It To Sales

By Trevor Dumbleton

Traffic is the lifeblood of websites. If you're like most people, you concentrate on the headline figures of how many page views you've had and how many unique visitors have looked at your website. But that's not the only thing you should be thinking of. Quality of traffic is much more important than quantity. Sure, you'd like both, but quality far and away outshines quality. So how can you get more traffic to your website and make sure it converts to sales?

Make sure your site is easy to navigate

How many times have you clicked onto a site with high hopes only to be met with a site that doesn't live up to your expectations? Big images take ages to download. Flashing or slide-show type images are usually a distraction. Check everything over with fresh eyes - or breathe down the neck of someone who's using your site for the first time.

Check for things that are the darlings of website designers but don't necessarily translate into a good user experience. Menus are one of the prime culprits here - if your mouse has to be in precisely the right place for menus and sub-menus to work, chances are that your users will give up and find an easier site. But check other usability issues as well - little things make big differences on conversion.

Check your page titles

These are the call to action that users click (or don't click) before they even reach your site. If your page titles are dull and boring, potential customers and traffic won't even get to your site.

As with the site itself, run a check. Just use site:yourwebsite.com in Google to see how your page titles look. If they're boring to you or don't instantly tell you what each page is about, fix them. It will take a while for the new titles to show up in Google but it's worth the wait. Encouraging people to click through to your site with better titles will make a measurable difference to your website traffic.

Get more (relevant) links

Links are one of the determining factors in how well your website ranks in the search engines. Put simply, the higher you rank the more traffic you'll get to your website. So this is a big determining factor in getting more traffic to your website.

Make sure that your links are friendly - don't go spamming other people's sites with spammy comments in the hope of getting a backlink or two. If you do post comments (and this technique can work when done properly) then make sure they are a useful contribution to the page topic.

You can also get relevant links by writing useful articles like this one. Send them to the main article directories or even offer to write a guest post on someone else's site. The latter option takes more effort than writing for an article directory but if you choose a site that complements yours then it can be a goldmine.

Here you only need to subscribe to forums related to your niche, and place your link of whatever you are selling/promoting with some catchy phrases that attract people's attention in your user signature.

I will point some things that are important in this traffic method, please read carefully:

1) Read the TOS before joining... I know many people don't do this, and that's the reason many of them get banned. Some forums have specific restrictions for Internet Marketing, and you should know them before you start posting there. If you find a forum that doesn't allow signatures, just move to the next one.

2) Build your name with the community... You will be a newbie in the forum, nobody knows you, so it's quite important that you start getting to know your audience, post regularly, ask questions, answer them if you can. In time people will identify your brand with you, and you will begin to get recommendations and better traffic response.

There are two types of posts that you should make while using this traffic source... one is replying to users questions, adding value to the forum through your opinions. And the other is creating new topics with relevant and useful information.

The second option will be the most catchy for your audience, but for starters it will require time, just because you don't know much about the business yet...

But hey, if you are serious about what you are doing here, in time you will learn lots of things that will allow you to add value to your brand and you will make a professional name for yourself.

3) Be nice to the members, and most important of all, have FUN!

If possible never engage with other members, always show a smile, be positive and stay in tune with the community. Share off-topic information in time to time, make people laugh. I assure you this TIP is key in order to make people know you faster. This is not like a full-time job where you lower your head and say "Yes, boss....", you have the opportunity to be yourself here, so take advantage of that and enjoy your work!.

Article Marketing:

This method will require you to have some basic knowledge in the business first...

You can submit articles to Article Directories and you will have the opportunity to appear in the first page of Google searches. Why, you might be asking? Just because these Article Directories have a good Page Rank and a well researched keyword will allow you to get organic traffic into your website by appearing in the first page.

Before you start submitting any article, I would recommend that you learn the basics about Keywords and how to use them in Articles first. I won't point that here because it's not the aim of this guide. Just make a Google search and you will find a lot of information about this.

A key thing in this traffic source is to have a perfect grammar, show value using your personality, but write your articles properly because people are not attracted to poorly written articles. If you are not that good at writing, then it is a good opportunity to improve those skills for yourself. You will need them anyway because in this business you have to write a lot.

Guest Posts:

This traffic source is very powerful and will drive a huge amount of visitors to your webpages, but you will have to invest time researching Blogs related to your niche.

The idea here is to create a nice and unique article, that you will send to a high populated blog related to your niche. There are plenty of blogs that accept Guest Posts, but each of them have their rules that you must follow, else they will reject your article...

Some of these rules are listed below:

1) Your article needs to be unique. This article has to be made only for this guest post and you can't use it anywhere else. Duplicated Content is forbidden among bloggers.

2) No affiliate links are allowed within your article content. You can't promote/sell a particular product with a guest post. But you CAN place a link to your Squeeze Page or Blog, so you will be able to drive the visitors into your website.

3) Good grammar and perfect orthography. This is a must, same as Article Marketing you must write properly.

The idea behind a Guest Post is to get right to your fellow blogger's audience... so it's a win-win situation, he will have a high quality article to post in his Blog, and you will promote your business right to his visitors.

If you want to find Blogs that allow people to guest post, go to Google and make a search with the following line:

"guest post by"

Where Can I Find Website Traffic Information?

By Michael David Wilson

Website traffic information is very important for many people such as publishers, advertisers, and website developers. This article describes why it is important and how you can find the traffic numbers. Publishers are always interested in the traffic that their website is getting in order to understand how it is performing and to see if those recent website changes create more traffic or less. They may also want to look at how their competitors are doing. Advertisers want to know how much traffic is going to particular websites. They want to know the reach of their running advertisements and they want to gather traffic data on a new website for a future advertising order. Website developers want to know if the websites they built are successfully receiving traffic making their clients happy.

Web Analytic Tools
If you own a website, the best way to track your traffic is using a web analytics tool. The most common free web analytic tools are Google Analytics and Yahoo Web Analytics. These tools will provide detailed statistics such as unique visitors, page views, and time on site. This data will be very valuable if you plan on selling advertising space to your potential buyers and can be used to develop a media kit. Website developers should install a web analytic tool on all websites that they build. If you are willing to spend some money and feel that the free basic tools are not giving you what you need, you may want to try a more advanced solution like WebTrends, Adobe's Omniture or IBM's Coremetrics.

Online Traffic Estimators
If you want a quick and free estimate on the amount of traffic a website is getting, visit any of the popular ones briefly described directly below. These sites are great if you want to spy on your competition or as an advertiser, want to confirm the data provided by a publisher.

Alexa provides an estimate on the percentage of Internet users that may have visited a website during a certain period of time. It works better for websites with high traffic. The estimator can be used to understand traffic trends as well. Furthermore, Alexa supplies audience demographic data such as age and education level.

Compete displays an estimated amount of unique visitors in the U.S. Data is gathered using ISP data, internal tools, and other data sources to provide a fairly accurate estimate of traffic statistics. Again, if the website has a low amount of traffic, only a very rough estimate is provided and in some cases, there is no data available. Compete allows you to export the report into different formats if you wish to analyze or share it.

Quantcast is another traffic estimator which provides a rough estimate of traffic in the U.S. In terms of demographics in the U.S., the site displays data on gender, age, race, education level, whether the visitor has children, and income level. These statistics are again just estimates. Interestingly, the site also offers data on traffic frequency (i.e. regular visitor vs passer-by).

Data Aggregators gather information from multiple sources such as Alexa, Compete, Quantcast, Google, Yahoo and other data sources to provide a comprehensive report. For example, MyDomainStats displays different traffic estimates, a graphical snapshot of the homepage, backlink statistics, Google page rank, and even an estimated monetary value. You can click on the individual data points to go to the particular site of interest if you want more in-depth information from that specific site. These tools are great if you want data from multiple sources as it saves you the effort from visiting each one individually.

Website Traffic - 3 Tips To Higher Quality Traffic

Website traffic. Everyone wants more of it, and, especially with the wailing and gnashing of teeth following Google's recent announcements, it seems like people are both willing to do anything to get it... but unsure of exactly what is going to work.

The truth is, getting website traffic isn't the be-all and end-all of the problem. True story: some while ago one of my pages got a mention on StumbleUpon and I had a massive surge in traffic.

But I didn't get any optins and so that traffic ultimately wasn't worth much to me.

Moral of the story?

It's not how much you get... it's how good it is.

In other words, it's better to have a slow and steady stream of highly qualified visitors than it is to have a mass of unwashed wannabes and looky-loos.

So here are three tips to attracting higher quality traffic to your website:

Write relevant articles and post them. Article marketing is still one of my favourite website-traffic sources, regardless of how much people are saying it's "old fashioned" and how it "doesn't work". Because it does work. Consider: a visitor to my website coming from an article is over three and half times more likely to join my email list than a visitor from a search engine. More to the point, I write an article once, and it stays there, pretty much forever. I have articles that have been up for several years and they still send me a steady stream of highly qualified traffic.
Comment on relevant blogs. No matter what niche you're in, you are going to have peers. Meaning, yours is not going to be the only blog on a topic, no matter how off-the-wall and bizarre it is. Those blog owners are going to welcome intelligent, relevant and on-topic comments and analyses of their posts from people in the same niche. That means you. You sometimes get a link back, which is nice. But more important than that, you actually get direct traffic. People see your comment, nod in agreement and click the link back to your blog and see what else you might have to say on the matter. It works. One word of caution, though: don't spam people's blogs with silly "Great post. I've bookmarked it and will be back here again" comments. You're not fooling anyone, and you'll get yourself blocked from leaving further comments on that blog forever.
And finally, if you're feeling a little braver... invest in a small ad -- literally an inch by two inches -- in an industry-relevant publication where you have just a BIG bold headline, a massive promise underneath it, and then your website address. These are sometimes called "web ads" and are a great way to drive qualified traffic from offline sources to your (obviously online) website where you can collect their details and begin a relationship with them. Ultimately, you'll sell them something.

None of this is rocket science, and all it takes is a bit of time and effort and a willingness to succeed.
